When
she gets kicked out of her prestigious Manhattan prep school, Pippa
barely has time to say goodbye to her seven adoptive dads before she
is rushed off to Switzerland to attend a mysterious boarding school.
All she’s told is that it’s a school for girls with
unusual talents and that her mom was a student there before her
untimely death. But upon arrival, she’s classified as a Snow
White, a chatty Cinderella is assigned as her roommate, and she
discovers that her classmates can fly, cast illusions, and instantly
detect lies. Madrina Academy, it turns out, has a long tradition of
training girls to fight against dark magic and every fairytale hero
passed through its halls once upon a time.
Now
Pippa is learning to use her power- the same power that the Snow White of legend had - and training with the boys of the Protector
Corps, who are sworn to defend Pippa and her classmates. They’re
incredibly strong, incredibly fast and incredibly handsome, but Pippa
is unlikely to find her Prince Charming in their ranks; dating isn’t
just forbidden at Madrina, it can trigger a deadly curse. But
as Pippa struggles with the pressures of school and the reality of
her mom’s secrets she finds herself drawn to both sweet and funny
James and handsome heartbreaker Rowan. However, after a series of
terrifying accidents, she can’t help but wonder whether she’s
triggered Juliet’s Curse, or if there’s something more
sinister that has it in for her.
We hope you enjoy the first chapter of The False Heart.
